Society
Brides were pleased to win two major national awards in the bridalwear
industry for 2003 at
the Bridal Buyer award ceremony at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate.
This has become the top award ceremony in the industry with most of the top professionals
in the British bridalwear world in attendance. The ceremony was hosted by T.V.
personality Stuart Hall.
Society Brides were awarded
the coveted:
' Best New Retailer 2003' They
were also pleased to receive the award for: 'Best
Shop Design 2003' 
What
the organisers said about the Best New Retailer category winner: "In
a category that was inundated with a high standard of entries, Society Brides
was a huge hit with the panel of judges...Society Brides' stylish store
is very spacious and appeals to the discerning bride offering a serious alternative
to London stores" What
they said about the Best Shop Design category winner: "Another
very competitive category, but Society Brides was the hands-down winner
with its spacious, uncluttered interior, beautiful lighting and even a lounge
area for friends and relatives to relax in whilst waiting to view dresses!" ******* In
2004 they were voted amongst the finalists in the national awards for bridalwear

Back in her native South
Africa our chief designer Michèle Keffen won the title
'Young Designer of the Year' in
1999. This led to her being offered a design
position with fashion giants Versace
that she turned down in order to marry british photographer
David Keffen
and to work in the UK. Michèle
& David were recently asked to speak at the Drapers Global Fashion
